Rebecca Barry is a storyteller and an adventurer at heart, with a deep desire to share new perspectives and observations about our world. She is driven to facilitate exceptional stories, share these with an audience in a creative way, and create impact.


Film is her chosen medium for storytelling. Whether through drama or documentary, as a director or producer, she is there to serve the story through collaboration and artistic excellence.


In 2012 she founded the production company Media Stockade with fellow filmmaker Madeleine Hetherton-Miau. Together they have created works for the likes of National Geographic, ABC, SBS, Network 10, Netflix, Hulu, BBC and Al Jazeera. Their award-winning films have been screened at film festivals around the globe, including IDFA, HotDocs, FIFO, Sydney Film Festival, and Melbourne International Film Festival, to name a few.

Rebecca recently graduated as a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Technology, Sydney. Her research explored the dark grey zone of power and ethics in documentary consent processes. She is a certified Mental Health First Aider.
